A fire strategy is not a fire safety plan or evacuation plan rather it’s a technical sometimes complex document focusing on the fire safety design features of a building, and is mainly required to demonstrate compliance with building regulations in new and materially changed or altered buildings but can also be used retrospectively in existing buildings.
Fire safety design features typically include;
- Building construction
- Internal compartmentation / fire spread
- External fire spread
- Means of escape
- Means of fire detection and fire warning
- Access and facilities for the fire service
- Fire safety management
